resourcemonitor.app is an MCP system monitor, built on the protocol Claude Code and other AI tools use to reach programs on your machine. One command connects it, and the traffic runs both ways, including notifications back to your desktop.
- It answers your AI. Ask what's going on and it replies with live numbers, a per-app breakdown, and the last few minutes of history. Your assistant reasons from real data.
- You set the terms. Tell it when you want to be notified, in your own words, and connecting assistants get your rules automatically.
- Nothing gets lost. Every message is kept in the app with a timestamp. The alert you missed while gaming is still there.
- Optional and local. It reads your stats and writes only what your AI chooses to tell you. One switch turns it off. Nothing leaves your machine.

- Trustworthy by default. Every figure matches Task Manager exactly, so there's nothing to second-guess.
- Freeze the list. Spikes move fast. Hit pause and click the one you saw.
- Close it from here. No hunting through another window.
Your PC tells you the moment something is wrong.
Set a rule in a few clicks. CPU over 90%, Chrome past 1.5 GB, the GPU pegged at 100%, one specific app going quiet. The moment it trips, a notification lands on your desktop with the culprit already named.
- Watch anything. Any metric, or a single app you name, above or below a number you choose.
- Catches what you miss. The spike that only happens while you're away is logged, timestamped, and waiting.
- Named, not guessed. The alert tells you which app tipped it over.
- Desktop, log file, or both. Each alert decides for itself. Built in the app, not hand-edited in a config file.

FPS your AI can actually explain.
It watches for anything actually presenting frames to your screen: the game, the video in a background tab, the capture tool you forgot about.
- Correlated, not just counted. FPS goes over MCP right alongside CPU, GPU, disk and network, so Claude Code (or any MCP client) can sample it over time and actually tell you what's dragging your frame rate down, not just show you a number that dropped.
- A floating counter you drag where you want it, in the colour and opacity you pick.
- Every app gets its own number. Several things presenting at once each show their own FPS, not one number for the whole screen.
Watch every agent your AI spins up, live, with a full logged history.
Claude Code and other MCP clients can tell resourcemonitor.app what they're doing as they do it. Sub-agents, background tasks, long research runs: see every one of them, running, waiting or done, in the tray and in the widget, across every session you have open.
- Nothing runs in the dark. A sub-agent kicked off ten minutes ago shows up the moment it starts, not only when it finally reports back.
- Nothing disappears. Turn on agent history and every finished run is appended to a file of your choosing, so a session you closed hours ago is still there to check.
- Custom AI requests. Add your own standing instructions, in your own words, such as “always name the worst offender” or “warn me before RAM crosses 90%,” and every connected AI follows them, instantly, no restart required.
- One glance, every session. Agents across multiple projects roll up into a single live list.

No account, no telemetry, no cookies. The detail is below, in plain language.
The application
resourcemonitor.app runs entirely on your computer. It has no account system, sends no telemetry, and makes no network requests of its own. The readings it takes never leave the machine they were taken on.
Your settings, your alert rules and your window positions are stored in a single text file in your local application data folder. Alert logs are written only to files you choose. You can open, edit or delete any of it at any time, and uninstalling removes the program without touching those files.
The AI connection
When you enable the MCP server, AI tools running on the same computer can read the same statistics you see, send notifications back to the app, and report what they are working on so you can see it under AI activity. They are also given the notification preferences you set in the app. That connection is local: it uses a Windows named pipe, not the internet. Whether any AI tool of yours then transmits what it read is governed by that tool's own privacy policy, not this one. The server is off with a single switch.
This website
No cookies are set, no identifiers are stored on your device, and nothing you do here is linked to you or to your visit tomorrow. That's why there's no banner to dismiss.
What we never do
We do not sell data, because we do not have any to sell. We do not run advertising or third-party trackers. We do not fingerprint your browser. We do not email you, because we never asked for your address.
